Since getting married a year ago, my husband and I have both gained weight. They say it happens after marriage, but we were just lazy. Lazy with workouts. Lazy with meals. Turns out... laziness = unhealthy. I've gone up a whole pant size in the last year! Realizing that something needed to change, two weeks ago I weighed myself (which I never do). Turns out I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I'm a firm believer that muscle can cause weight gain, but most of my weight is NOT from muscle. I barely work out. I like to call myself a runner... but I WAS a runner... two years ago. Now I run, occasionally. So the scale is not lying about where the weight is coming from. There is no denial here. My husband also gained a few pounds, so we both realized that something had to change. That's when I bought a book. A book full of deliciousness. It's called 28 Days of Clean Eating: The Healthy Way to Kick Dieting Forever. It has recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, desserts, smoothies. You name the meal, they have a recipe for it. Plus they give you tips on how to switch to a more clean lifestyle and WHY making the lifestyle change is good for you. Two weeks into (mostly) clean eating and my husband and I feel fuller longer. We aren't snacking as much and those crazy cravings for dessert aren't as strong. Many of the recipes that I will be posting on this site will be from the book, because I love it so much. If you feel like you need a life style change and NOT another diet, you should check the book out, too! It is delish! Be inspired, my friends! Chrissy

I gain inspiration from so many places in my life. I work with many wonderful people who have ideas on how to make lessons more exciting for children. On Twitter, I have a PLN that is constantly providing me with new ideas that I can immediately bring into the classroom. Cookbooks inspire me to try unique recipes in the kitchen, and Pinterest inspires me when I'm itching to create something new. Reflection is important for a clear mind. Many of my cooking, crafting, and teaching ideas start as a spark of inspiration that I gained from someone else. I just spin those ideas to work for me. Hopefully, this blog will inspire someone else. I also wanted to utilize this website as a place to reflect and share teaching resources and ideas that have worked for me in my classroom. I have a gamified, flexible seating classroom and I LOVE telling others about it. My teaching partner and I have created many resources that have helped us bring gaming into the classroom. I am excited to share it all with you. I also am planning on teaching my fifth graders about Growth Mindset. Hopefully, you will also teach yourself to think positively and grow in a skill this year! The link below is for my personal twitter - it is being revamped.. I haven't spent much time on it lately. To view my teacher Twitter check out @mrsdastice :) I am so excited to embark on this blog journey. Stay inspired my friends! Love, Chrissy |
